Do you need peace and quiet, time and space, to get on with your reading, and perhaps your writing? Would you like delicious meals and wine and good company at the end of the day’s work? Maybe an award-winning author to have a look at what you’ve been working on, and offer words of advice? And support in keeping off the internet?
Castello di Potentino is delighted to announce the Potentino Bookclub Reading and Writing Week 2019: a week of writing, reading, walking, eating, sleeping, talking, drinking and no screens (unless we choose to show a film on a full-size one, for watching sociably) led by Potentino’s best-selling, award-winning, in-house author Louisa Young, who as well as publishing 14 books has taught at Arvon and Guardian masterclasses, and was a Visiting Lecturer in Creative Non-fiction at the University of Kent.
Louisa Young's a writer and songwriter. Her eleven novels include the award-winning ‘My Dear I Wanted to Tell You’ trilogy. She’s half of the children’s author Zizou Corder (with her daughter Isabel Adomakoh Young), and half of the band Birds of Britain (with Alex Mackenzie). She’s a Londoner, a former journalist, and ‘a masterly storyteller’ (The Washington Post).
Her ‘beautiful’, ‘heartbreaking’, spectacular’, ‘unflinching’, ‘bruising’, ‘brilliant’, ‘honest as the morning after’ memoir, You Left Early: a True Story of Love and Alcohol, is out in paperback in April 2019. She released her debut album, You Left Early, also about love, death and addiction, in 2018.
- Transfers to and from Pisa Airport (although you may prefer to hire a car so that you can visit the local countryside).
- Two 50-min sessions of individual attention for you and your writing, plus further shared support during the retreat
- All meals and wine
- A wine tasting with winemaker Charlotte Horton of the castle's wines
- A trip to La Foce to look at writer Iris Origo's beautiful garden with lunch and an oil tasting at Chiarentana with Donata Origo
